As part of the partner meeting last November in Vienna, Biotop selected the best natural pool and swimming pond projects with the Biotop Design Award. 23 partners from six nations took part in the traditional competition. An eleven-person jury and the partners selected the winners in three categories from 60 projects. The Belgian company Tuinen Brouckaert won in the “Remodeling & Renovation” category. Second place went to Freiraum garden architecture. They brought a 25 m pool out of its deep sleep and transformed it into a living pool with floor markings. The garden and landscape architects of the Koninklijke Ginkel Group from the Netherlands have received two awards: for the most beautiful swimming pool and the most extraordinary living pool. The British company Ellicar Pools came in second. They created a 16 x 6 m swimming pool and embedded it in suitable plants.
