Three generations of swimming pool construction: the Frenz company has been active in pool and sauna construction for five decades and is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. In the meantime, with Dominik Frenz, the third generation is working in the company, so that the continuity of the company is ensured.
He has always had a relationship with water. In his first professional career, Joachim Frenz worked as an inland waterway captain. The boom in private swimming pool construction in the early 1970s prompted him to go into business for himself and found Frenz Schwimmbad- und Saunabau in Minden on July 24, 1972. As is usual for start-ups, the company resided in its own private premises in the early days. In the course of growth, however, this became too tight and the company relocated to Hardenbergstraße in Minden. Already here they had an exhibition available and could show the customers some of the program. Ten years later, the company moved to its current location in Goethestraße in Minden. In the 600m2 exhibition, customers get a first impression of the wide range of swimming pools, whirlpools and saunas offered by Frenz.
Meanwhile, the management of the company is in the hands of the second generation. “In order to expand our warehouse and exhibition once again and to adapt our company to future requirements, we will soon be expanding once again,” explains Jens-Uwe Frens. Since the mid-1990s, he has been part of the team of his parents’ company, which he took over after his father retired. As a heating and ventilation engineer and as a trained industrial clerk, he brings with him a wide range of knowledge and experience. In the meantime, the third generation is on board with son Dominik. The trained businessman, who has been involved in his father’s and grandfather’s company since he was a child, has been supporting the team for around six years. As of April 1 of this year, he is also a member of the management board. “We are very happy that this has settled the succession,” explains Jens-Uwe Frenz. “Thus, everything continues as usual.”
Membership in several industry organizations is part of the company’s philosophy. Frenz Schwimmbad- und Saunabau, for example, has been a member of sopra for more than 30 years and is one of its founding members. Furthermore, the company is a member of the German Swimming Pool & Wellness Association (bsw) and the ProPartner Group, which belongs to RivieraPool.
