Great expectations for the aquanale

Only a few weeks until the start of the aquanale international trade fair for sauna, pool, ambience, which will take place in Cologne from October 26th to 29th, 2021. Those responsible for the trade fair as well as the sponsoring associations are very satisfied with the number of registrations.

Many important market players have now booked their booth at aquanale. The spatial and thematic structure already made in the previous event will be consistently further developed. Since 2019, aquanale has thematically covered both private and public swimming pools. The occupancy of halls 7 and 8, which are located directly at the north entrance of Koelnmesse, is new. This guarantees optimal visitor guidance through all subject areas. The parallel running FSB international trade fair for open spaces, sports and exercise facilities occupies halls 6, 9 and 10.1. All halls are laid out at ground level and are connected to each other by a simple circular route in a visitor-optimized manner. Aquanale 2021 is marked by a sustained boom in demand in the swimming pool and wellness industry. The trend towards retreating into one’s own four walls continues suddenly. The demand for pools, saunas and accessories for wellbeing is correspondingly high. But awareness of one’s own health, which had increased in the past anyway, has increased again since Corona. So it is not surprising that the market for privately used swimming pools has seen a surge in growth. According to estimates by the Federal Association of Swimming Pools & Wellness (bsw), around 30,000 new pools were built last year, so that the inventory is over 800,000 pools that were built by a specialist company. According to estimates, the total market amounts to over 2.2 million units. The signs for a successful start into a post-corona period are very good, as Matthias Pollmann, Business Unit Manager at Koelnmesse, and Ute Wanschura, Managing Director of the Federal Association of Swimming Pools and Wellness eV (bsw) explained at a digital press conference. Pollmann: “The event will certainly look different than it was two years ago. But the important thing is: It’s finally getting started again and the industry can exchange ideas extensively and, above all, personally. ”“ The swimming pool industry, as far as the market for private pools is concerned, did not have to suffer from the pandemic, ”explained Ute Wanschura. “On the contrary: the market has benefited overall, but the takeaway segment in the lower price segments in particular has boomed. Nonetheless, the handicraft companies had and still are very busy. Stefan Kannewischer, Managing Director of Kannewischer Management AG and President of the International Association for Sports and Leisure Facilities eV (IAKS), the ideal sponsor of the parallel FSB, International Trade Fair for Open Areas, Sport and Exercise Facilities: “In the first lockdown, the facilities had to remain closed for three months and then again since November 1, 2020. Public baths are a large fixed-cost business, and that makes the situation extremely difficult. But we are happy to finally be able to welcome our guests again. ”Koelnmesse has developed a comprehensive hygiene and safety concept to hold the trade fairs. This includes personalized tickets and contactless identity checks at the entrances through to specially trained stand personnel in order to comply with all hygiene regulations at your own stand. There is also the eGuard smartphone app, which helps guide visitors optimally and avoid crowds.
